[Asterisk-video] app_mp4 - Asterisk 1.4 or 1.6?

For the moment, we are working on a patched version of 1.4.19. If you 
want the files to be readable by other players
you should always post process your recorded files in order to normalize 
them.

Which video codecs are you looking to support on the SIP side?
