In the past, there was a US legal requirement to send a beep whenever
a call was being recorded (sort of a warning). Not sure that is still
a legal requirement or not, and there could be other sources for it.

The x100p is no different then the TDM card as the echo cancellation
routine is the same for both. The issue with the x100p has been the
chips on the card were originally manufacturered to interface with
US telephone standards (eg, 600 ohm impedance), whereas the TDM card
has a chip set that supports many other country-specific standards.

Some folks have had x100p echo problems in non-US countries where
their standards are not the same as US standards. Those in the US
(and like-standard countries) with x100p echo issues seem to be
directly related to motherboard issues, likely interrupt latency
and/or pci bus structure. (simply swapping motherboards has corrected
echo issues for multiple individuals. no one has kept track of what
boards work verses those with echo to my knowledge.)
