While your message is a good one:

I think there's a FAR better one to send.

If you don't know what you're doing, USE THE EFFING SUPPORTED HARDWARE.  The 
only thing I find MORE annoying than people asking if their FooWare $0.25 
modem that was in their mom's computer will work it's people who come in and 
say "What's the ABSOLUTE BAREST MINIMUM SMALLEST hardware I need to run 
Asterisk?"

People -- if you have to ask, you are *not* sufficiently experienced to try 
and optimize an Asterisk install!  Premature optimization is *the* number one 
cause of unhappy Asterisk users.

Get it working, *THEN* start to play around.  Hell, if you get the FooWare 
modems to work with *, write it up so others can learn from your 
experiences...  but FFS do NOT start throwing these kinds of questions 
around!
