[Asterisk-Users] Astricon costs...

I was thinking about the costs of this too..

After reviewing the Astricon web site, I thought the prices were pretty
reasonable. It seems like it will be well worth the time, especially in the
event we can get a number of vendors to show up at the vendor display
sessions on Wed.

Typically at a comm trade show, I spend most of my time talking to vendors
on the floor. I think it's cool that the tutorials are affordable to even
the smaller companies like mine, and so I hope to attend some of these too.

If anyone's worried about the cost, please compare this to some of the
larger VoIP shows we've seen recently, which I think are exorbitantly
priced.

Steve, I take your point about Phreaknic, and that sounds great. I hope
that Astricon succeeds as well, and that the promoters continue to keep the
costs down in the future.

Regards
Scott

I didn't want to publicly comment on this, but since it is out here now...

Several people may be familiar with Phreaknic in Nashville. We tend to tak
over an entire hotel for a weekend. Price for Phreaknic is ~$8k.
This is the upfront cost. Once the rooms are paid for some money comes off,
T-shirts pay back most if not all of their own costs. Con price is $20 per
person period. We have been getting 350-400 people per year.
Rooms are $62/per night. Oh and we have had Mark for the last two years too.

So far Phreaknic has been close to break even the last few years. It
wouldn't take much to make it even.
