Too bad it's OT to discuss this more fully on the list.

Software patents, which are being handed out like candy to all the big 
players who can afford patent lawyers, present a grave challenge to Open 
Source software.

Lots of Micro$oft-watchers think this is going to be the next venue for 
our favorite monopoly to try to squash its competition.

If that happens, it will be interesting to watch you defend them.  Of 
course they'll say they only want compensation "for their knowledge or 
work."
