Agreed.  I am completely against 17-year software patents.  I am completely 
against trivial and what I would call "hedging" software patents.

I am not, however, against software patents that are every bit as inventive 
and new as a mechanical counterpart.

Or are you saying g.729 was a trivial, obvious patent?
