Call the phone company.  Request that they turn off your "reminder ring
on call forwarding."

If the person you talk to does not understand call again.  Often, i've
ended up having to call repair, and then having the repair tech actually
fix it when they call me back.

It can be done, trust me.  Just takes awhile sometimes to find someone
who understands what you want.
