[asterisk-dev] Continue Asterisk 1.2 support

Very good thinking. Just because Digium has declared 1.2.x EOL does not
mean that the community cannot keep it alive as far as bug fixes.

It might get tricky with security updates that conflict with user base
generated bug fixes. Also, I guess those bug fixes would not go under
Digium's licensing since they are no longer supporting it.

In other words you are suggesting a fork.

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to use 1.4? The real reason I
wanted to was for the whisper coaching, but that is about it.

Thanks,
Steve Totaro

When we started testing our product in a more demanding environment we faced several problems. When we were reaching 80 simultaneous channels we noticed that "local" channels started getting locked and resources were not freed. We also found weird conditions while dealing with asterisk variables and AGIs (this behaviour was random and we could not reproduce it in order to report it as a bug with the needed supporting information). All this is reported in #0010374 and #0010197.
