Ah, next time, please let the silence continue for at least 30 seconds.
That will give IAX time to do any retrying it needs to. If the  
retries fail
then it will hang up, but with a, hopefully, useful error message.

If you still have the problem then, you may have to get a packet trace
with ethereal - then we can examine the timestamps of the mini-frame  
packets.
Silence in  the middle of an IAX call is usually for one of 2 reasons:
	1) no audio is being sent/recieved now
	2) a Voice full frame has been lost or dropped or mis-labled.

One more thing - do you have a firewall between the 2 systems ?
How is it configured ?
