If you want to solve it, put up a bounty, if others think its a problem,
they'll add to it.

Have you tested the patch which was supposed to implement it?

Seeing as you are doing a carrier grade implementation, I'm sure you
have 5-10 different boxes which you can patch up and run with multiple
operating systems to try it.

Then you could post back to the bugtracker about your results and you
may just find the problem solved.
