We use dx_setuio() to set custom I/O, and dx_setchxfercnt() to set the
buffer size. But that didn't work, and support told us that
dx_setchxfercnt() was "not supported on Linux" or something like that.

We're actually moving our systems from Dialogic GlobalCall to Asterisk
on Digium hardware. The stuff from Dialogic that we used were of really
dreadful quality :-(.
Asterisk has its problems too, but at least here we can solve the
problems if we are willing to spend the effort. And the Asterisk channel
driver framework is _much_ better (though even more poorly documented)
than the proprietary GlobalCall API.

Yes, probably. I believe the cards we use are quite old, > 5 years
(don't know the model names, one type is a single-span Springware-based
card and another is a quad-span DM3-based card).
