Well I can see the confusion. I've been trying all day to download asterisk 
v1_0_0 and any combination of that, but only getting zaptel and libpri, 
unless going for RC2. This is why I figured it's changed. I never tried what 
used to be the dev version.

Well, what used to be the dev version is now 1.0.

Is there a stable reliable way of knowing what is the current naming system 
for CVS? Under all of this, that has been my biggest problem. 

Just d/l the latest daily dev was easy. Now .version is gone and so is 
CVS/Tag. At this point I'm pulling version # from the ChangeLog. Is there a 
method to this madness, that I fail to see?

I'm maintaining a script that does all you may want to do, but could not find 
an announcement for where 1.0 was. I knew it had tarballs, but I like to be 
able to continue using cvs.
