Thanks Stefan, good/bad news at the same time: sound is OK now, but
I don't know why. Wrapup, for those web searchers too:
doing more disk tuning (thanks again Andrew) didn't help, but disabling
onboard sound plus APIC did (sound shared IRQ with Fritz card and APIC
was just a wild guess - as somehow was sound, since choppiness was not
chan_capi related - save magic of course).
In an attempt to track that bugger down, I re-en/disabled all stuff
I'd tweaked in a happy boot fest, ending up with my original config:
disk untuned except dma, sound + APIC enabled. After listening to 30
mins of congrats still no choppiness (but I now do have an idea what to
recite on xmas eve).
Pretty unsatisfactory, I wish I could've come up with facts. Makes me
feel quite stupid.
Anyway, tech details for the records:
Board: Fujitsu Siemens D1332 with Phoenix BIOS V 4.06 Rev 1.12.1215
CPU/RAM: Pentium 1.2G, 512MB
Disks: 2 x IBM DeskStar 40GB in soft RAID1 configuration (both master)
Capi: Fritz ISDN PCIv2 passive BRI card, AVM driver suse9.1-3.11-02
OS: Debian Sarge 2.6.8-1-686
*: CVS-v1-0 home setup
Thanks all, Bruno.
