Kernel version or/and config options may be responsible for the
problem. I did recognize the same or a similar sound quality problem
using kernel 2.6.9, ztdummy, asterisk 1.0.3, chan_capi 0.3.5
Some calls using capi channels produce choppy sound, others are
fine.

IMHO it is Asterisk related and could be discussed here. Please keep
