[Asterisk-Dev] Embedded Asterisk

Hi Andy,

Well - it would be fun to get a possibility to work on this more or less
full time, so let's see if I can impress them :) It works quite well
though, so I would guess so. Currently the only thing I can't demo is the
MOH (lack of ztdummy) and meetme (same reason), so I'll just "forget" to
mention those features.

The allwell boxes are great except from one thing. The
$#@#%$^%^$&@$%#%@#%$#@&&$ CyberPro video chips does't have any working open
source framebuffer driver available that'll enable the video output. I
originally got a few of these boxes for a streaming video project and that
died more or less of the same reason. So now I've turned it into a PBX (at
least for the demo - I want my MP3 player back after the demo).

As to your request for 2 PCI slots :) Search and thou shall find
(http://www.allwell.tv/Products/Set_Top_Box/STB6086N2/stb6086n2.html). The
Metallica box have room for 2 PCI slots and comes in an 800 MHz version
which would be cool. Just - the box doesn't look great as a PBX - but
well - can't have everything.

As for getting the boxes in Holland I would assume that's easier than
getting them to Malaysia :) And Allwell managed that about 4 days after we
placed an order - they are pretty efficient (albeit USD 50 for shipping did
piss me off slightly and then they labelled the shipping as electronic
equipment against my request - which meant I had to pay duties here in
Malaysia - pc equipment does not carry any duty). Anyway - I think I ended
up paying around USD 300 for the first box - including shipping, flash disk
and a neat wireless keyboard with built-in joystick/mouse.

I'll see if I can make the CVS repository accessible once I get over this
meeting tomorrow.
