[asterisk-biz] Recommendations for Multi-T1 failover switch

Do you know what this means ?

http://www.openvox.cn/products/show.php?itemid=137
<http://www.openvox.cn/products/show.php?itemid=137&lang=2> &lang=2

it talks about "FA40 is controlled through an Asterisk loadable module
res_failover.so. This module keeps sending "running" signal to FA40 when
Asterisk is running. Once Asterisk is down or system power is cut off, the
module will not be able to send out the "running" signal to FA40 and thus
FA40 will automatically switch to the standby telephone."

Standby telephone ?

And the FD/FB40's

If this switches packets from port 1 to port 2, like a managed switch,
aren't 2 FD40 and FB20 products same ?

I think i'm missing something here. Is this for rj45 from asterisk's server
Ethernet port or from something else ?

Also "Low power consumption, takes power from USB bus." This is powered from
usb ? what is the box that supplies power dies ? how we overcome that ?

Could rig a small dc adaptor.. but just wondering.

Oh and what's the pricing like ?

Hi Drew,

As a matter of fact Openvox has a failover box working with asterisk and
dont think it will work with other routers too. Anyhow i think it might
worth you giving a look at their website : www.openvox.cn

I'm looking for a failover device for up to 8 T1 lines.

The configuration is 8 T1 (data) lines terminating in 1 router (DSU's
internal to router). We are adding a second, hot-standby router and need
a device to switch the T1's over automatically should the live router fail.

Something like http://www.valiantcom.com/aps/safecomm/t1_8_links.html

Does anyone have any experience, recommendations or sources for these
devices? We will be upgrading 3-6 sites in the US and Canada during the
coming months.

regards,

Drew
