Yes you can get "channel based" via sip, however most companies don't
sell it because its cheaper to go per minute. Take for account all
these unlimited plans. All they are doing is betting you won't use
more in minutes on average then their cost. And they are right most
people don't even come close.

Subject: [Asterisk-biz] Pricing Options and Models

Hi all,

There has been a receint flurry of activity on this list regarding
different SIP based pricing options.

There seem to be two main options available at this point:

  1. Port based - just like a local T1 provides unlimited inbound
calling, customer pays the outbound usage, capped on maximum
simultaneous ports.
  2. Usage based - customer pays for inbound and outbound calls based on
minutes.

With a PRI a 16 mile radius is usually considered local calling and
free outbound, are there any SIP providers that make this distinction
(i.e. is there any concept of local calling with a port based SIP
contract)?

What are good rates for a small-medium sized business looking for SIP
based origination and termination?

 TIA,
 Max
