I'm Brian Capouch. I'm not a developer, although I spend a lot of time
with Asterisk developers. I stumbled onto Asterisk after reading a
Slashdot posting in 2001, and nothing has been the same for me since.
I'm a member of the Advisory Council, and I speak about Asterisk in a
number of different venues--for the past two years I have done a basic
Asterisk tutorial at the O'Reilly Open Source Conference.
I live in the heart of the heart of the country where bandwidth is
scarce, expensive, and unreliable. The people around here don't have
any money. So my little niche I call "bottom feeder's Asterisk," which
means doing things with as little expense as possible.
Accordingly, my current passion is running Asterisk on the openWRT
distribution of Linux, running on cheapo commodity wireless routers. My
current favorite--by far--is the Netgear WGT634U. I can deploy an ISP
CPE with Asterisk on it for a bit over $50.
I did once hack up a driver for Postgres/Realtime--I have done quite a
bit of C programming, but not much with Asterisk.
