[Asterisk-Users] Queues with really short timeouts

Greetings folks,
I have a client who wants to divert his main office number to a call
answering service when the phones in his office aren't answered within a few
seconds. Calls to the main number go into a queue which then rings all the
phones in the office.
I've changed the timeout in queues.conf to 5, and also modified the queue
line to read
Queue (office,trn,,,5)
(r = no retry)
Theoretically, this should mean the queue rings for 5 seconds, then drops
out to the next command (the call to the divert service). However, what
seems to be happening is that the queue runs once, then shows the following
in the console:
-- Nobody picked up in 5000 ms
The queue then proceeds to run again, finishing with the same message again,
and only after the second run is the answering service dialled.
Two questions: Is this behaviour normal? Is it safe to reduce the queue
timeouts to something like 3 seconds (given that that would result in
ringing for 6 seconds)?
Regards,
Chris
