that would be great if someone with inside knowledge could jump on this
thread and further explain the situation (differences between misdn versions
in 2.6.27 kernel and the one downloadable from misdn.org, 1.x and 2.x)

yes.
For me the main issue is, I may be wrong, I don't remember seeing any
evidence in this list of people using chan_lcr.

I could successfully build yesterday misdn 1.1.9.1 with 1.6.2.0-rc3 but
didn't try it yet.
