Hey this would be neat!  But I cannot get it to work:

Connected to Asterisk 1.4.23.1 currently running on pbx (pid = 15728)
Verbosity was 0 and is now 1
pbx*CLI> sip notify polycom-check-cfg 223
Unable to find notify type 'polycom-check-cfg'
pbx*CLI>

Must it be defined somewhere?
