Welcome!

The best I've been able to do is Google for "site:lists.digium.com
[asterisk-users] keyword". The list info page has an archive
(http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users) but it isn't
great. You'll find that Google has seen quite a few [asterisk-users]
list archives of the asterisk-users list as well.

Did you extract your download using tar and gunzip? Usually the
permissons on ./configure are set correctly. It sounds like it isn't
executable, if you're already running as root. Try 'chmod +x configure'
to mark it executable, then try again.

I've heard people like the bootcamp, but I know nothing of it. Freenode
IRC's #asterisk is a good place to ping people with the kinds of
questions it sounds like you want to ask :).

I'd recommend not replying to your daily digest e-mail if you want a new
post. Some threading newsreaders might not like that, or so I've heard.
But you're doing great so far; good luck!
