with 1.6, i'm using this: http://messinet.com/?page_name=AsteriskFAXGateway to
do email-fax gatewaying in both directions.
i suppose it could also work with 1.4's tx_fax and rx_fax which i think are in
the agx-ast-addons package available at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/agx-ast-addons/
