You are correct, I made some corrections.
Here is the info on the Cisco console cable I use. There are a couple ways
to make the connection depending on what you have available. I used a piece
of 6 wire flat satin (like the 4 wire telephone station cord only with 6
wires) and put a 6 pin modular connector on one end then put a 8 pin modular
connector on the other with the cable aligned to fill the 6 middle
connections. Make sure to put the same side up on both ends (like a
telephone wire) so that it is a straight through cable. Then I used a Cisco
RJ-45 to DB9 terminal adapter that comes with a router or switch to connect
to the PC. If you don't have that adapter and need to crimp or solder your
DB9 connector (blech...) the pinout is below.
I don't remember the correct way the pins are labeled on the 6 pin modular
connector so you need to be looking at it with the clip away from you and
the cable opening on the left then start with the top pin as pin 1.
