I wouldn't go that far. Note that a similar Bell Canada application was
submitted and approved two years ago.

At least they're still going to provide the service, except only on a
monthly tariff (not a bad idea -- I think the contracts are onerous anyway).

The feeling I get reading this document is that they have a lot of
customers still using this service.

I do know that Sasktel are betting heavily on IP services, though. This
is probably the stick end of the carrot-stick combination.

Sure, I don't buy the argument that they "had concerns regarding their
ability to provide Microlink service in the long-term, given the age and
viability of the ISDN-BRI technology."

What I want to know is, what do they propose to replace it with? The
document says -- among other things --  "IP-based services" and
"Centrex". How is digital Centrex an improvement? There's no more
equipment available for supporting that than there is for BRI.

If they want to sell or rent us a bunch of digital sets, then it's a big
con.
