[asterisk-users] voicemail usernames can't begin with "j" letter?

I playing a bit with this, it seems that if you use the new syntax it
works:

exten => _[a-z].,3,VoiceMail(${EXTEN}|u)

You can, of course, also use the b, j, s, and g flags.

Even using the VoiceMail(u${EXTEN}) still elides the 'j'.
