[asterisk-users] State of a public number

Hi guys,
i would check the state of a number on a Zap channel, i suppose that i cannot use ExtensionState that works only for SIP and IAX. 
Anyone has any ides ? Could i check the state of a pubblic number before transfer it a internal call?
