You can with the HT-488 also, but it has major issues that make it 
unusable in the real world.  Still I find it to be a very good FXS ATA 
with a power out fail over to PSTN.  Just don't expect much from the 
FXO.

That's kind of stupid.  I guess they didn't want to pay for the G729 
licenses for both channels,  but people that are using it on one, 
probably want it on the other too!

The HT-488 is actually working very well for me as an FXS.  I also have 
an AG168V which is a super elcheapo IAX2 ATA.  It has some 
idiosyncrasies, but in general has gotten much better with latest 
firmware.
