It does sound like a typical case of urban legend, where "Zap is limited

I've never said that Asterisk is limited to 256 channels. I only asked a
question. That is the main reason of this list isn't it?
But leave the limitation thing :).

I need to connect two (or more) asterisk boxes. They will exchange a lot
calls. What is the best approach? Which protocol should I use IAX or SIP or
what? I never did that so first I want to ask people who have some
experience.
