I had found a company called bahamasystems which has an asterisk interface but it's a service and it's expensive.

Another poster pointed me at nowsms.com. Looks a little more attractive (except for the Windows gateway part).

However, I have not been able to find out the actual codes. Just the 111# stuff to get a return receipt, etc.
