Sipsak could be used to test the SIP registration.

 

Asterisk redundancy is a very interesting topic.

 

I also thought about trying to run two asterisk boxes with VRRP (Virtual
router redundancy protocol), and usign the virtual IP address created by
VRRP as the SIP registration address. Have not had a chance to test it, but
theoretically it should work.
