Hi Chris,

Edit your MAC-directory.xml for each phone

and instead of using the <fn></fn> and <ln></ln>

only use <fn>

(this equates to only using the first name and not the last name, thus 
it won't do the 'Smith, John' nor will your issue affect you anymore)
