Well, doesn't asterisk handle the media stream? Wouldn't that be a 
constant stream?

I can see the benefits behind VAD/Silence cause when on a call with my 
7960, I can turn on stats and those with VAD support don't send me 
packets unless they are speaking. Seems really nice.
