[Asterisk-Users] Problem with long delay. VPN ?

We have a problem whereby once a call has started there is no noticeable
delay however as the call continues you notice a delay building up, after
say 10mins it becomes really noticeable.
 
The setup is XTEN with VPN (Cisco) - Cisco 7206 - VPN (Cisco) XTEN 
The RTP and signalling are going across the VPN.
 
Could it be the VPN (encrypt / decrypt) causing the problem ?
 
Has anyone else had this issue and or knows a solution.
