What are you talking about? Did BroadVoice get bought out? Are they no
longer supporting Asterisk? Mine wasn't working yesterday, but works now.
However, as far as their system is concerned, I'm using a Cisco 7960.
BroadVoice is the most competitive companies I've seen on the net for
residential users, it's why I chose them for my own personal home service. I
mean, $19.95 a month, unlimited USA and 21 countries. $24.95 a month,
unlimited USA and 35 countries.
I have the $19.95 plan but am upgrading to $24.95 as I need Brazil and Japan
as well. My friends/family and I call Brazil/Japan/Australia primarily and
now it's unlimited. I mean, I don't think they'll get bought out, and with
their rates as competitive as it is, they should be the winners in the
upcoming VOIP war. I've already referred 15 people to them and they've all
signed up, 4 of them are Vonage converts.

My BroadVoice account has been down for over a week with neither an
explanation nor a service credit. Our problems may be a little
different though because I don't remember what happened when I tried to
dial out. I know that I do get a "Request Timeout" error while trying
to register though.
Anybody else having broadvoice problems?

This is what happens to the VOIP Industry over time - Consolidation, if
you want to call it that.
A few players will remain at the end and when it is all over. All others
will just disappear. Broadvoice has not understood the game it appears.
This game is like Heavy Weight Boxing, where the last one standing is
the winner. In order to be the last one to be standing, you have to be
lean and mean and control your costs and keep acquiring customers, till
you reach a critical mass and a value proposition for another investor
or a predator.
Anyone who has not understood these couple of things will fall by the
wayside.
