Well, that's bad news.  I'm not interested in doing this if there are 
any legal issues involved.   But my opinion is that they would 
definitely sell more units, and save money (GAPS developement is 
definitely not free) if they would open up the format.

I guess a http scraper would be a legal way of mass-configuration. 
Anybody created such a script and is willing to share?
