I am guessing you are using the SIP image on your 79xx?  Well if in SIP your
Cisco phone will send the DTMF messages in RFC2833 to Asterisk.  Then
Asterisk will translate that and deliver the tone to the far end.

Make sure in your sip.conf, you have dtmf=rfc2833 set
