Andrei,

Do you have X-Windows running on the linux box? I had a similar issue
that was eliminated when I stopped this process and samba from running.
Now samba is only allowed to come up during non-business hours, for
changing BG music.

Also, make sure your registration period in either (polycom) ipmd.cfg or
sip.cfg is set to be at least the default 3600 time period. I also
removed the qualify=2000 from my (asterisk) sip.conf file and now have
less clicks/pops. What it sounds like to me is possibly that you are
noticing a pop/click when asterisk as trying to re-qualify the phone
during the middle of a call. Also do you have Busydetect enabled? I had
to disable that setting in my Zapata.conf.

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Polycom 600 problem

Hi there,

We are using 10+ Polycom SP IP 600 phones with Asterisk and TMD400P with

4 FXO lines.

So far we have 3 phones with following problem: more or less frequently,

for every call or ever other call, user of the phone would hear brief
interruptions on the line when dialing out via PSTN, like if someone
would be disconnecting and reconnecting the external line a few times
per second. At the same time Asterisk Voicemail, Music on hold, SIP to
SIP calls would work just perfect. Loud and clear.

It is not dependant on network conditions, network configuration,
extension number, PSTN phone # dialed or particular network location of
the phone. So it is a problem with the phone. I've tested this quite
thoroughly: if I install a different 600 phone - that one would work
just fine at the same locations/extension/network connection etc. Cisco
7940 does not have this problem either.

I already RMA-ed one of the Polycoms and looking to return the other 2.
Meanwhile, if someone can comment on this problem, that would be a great

help!

Other than this problem, the Polycoms 600 are excellent for Asterisk
setup.

Thank you,
Andrei
