Welcome to the list!

A note. Most of us here use software which keeps subject threads together. 

On some, usually older software, threading is done by the content of the 
subject line. On modern Linux clients, the thread information is read from  
the header of each message. This means that if you erase the subject line it 
does not create a new thread. It's a very common misconception.

This problem occurs when, in order to save some efforts, one chooses Reply 
rather than New Message. 

In this case you replied right into someone elses thread. No doubt you would 
not have done this on purpose, but where just trying to make things a bit 
easier. 

What I do is right click on the list address and then choose New Message. 
Which fills in the address for me, and starts a new thread.
