[Asterisk-Users] best low-bandwidth strategy

I have run the following setups with no conversion problems..

UA(ulaw) --> Asterisk --IAX2(GSM)
UA(alaw) --> Asterisk --IAX2(GSM)
UA(ulaw) --> Asterisk --IAX2(iLBC)
UA(alaw) --> Asterisk --IAX2(iLBC)
UA(GSM) --> Asterisk --IAX2(iLBC)

So chances are its a G.729 issue rather than and Asterisk conversion issue, Unfortunately Digium have no real control over the G.729 codec..
