[Asterisk-Users] beginner's question!

Another beginner here if I may jump in on this as well with a question.
My question is very simular to the original poster in that I downloaded
asterisk on my RH9 box. It installed correctly and started correctly
however even after having read the handbook, I'm still a bit confused
about a few things.

My current setup is the asterisk server, then I have another box on my LAN
that GnoPhone is running on. I successfully registered with IAXtel and
received a phone number from them. I also made a few test calls out with
GnoPhone through IAXtel. Those calls went fine. Then I went back to try
to configure my config files on the asterisk server. As I understand it,
since I'm using no hardware currently the only 2 files I need to edit are
iax.conf and extensions.conf?? Now what I'm trying to do here is simply
use GnoPhone to make calls out to the PSTN. I would also like to receive
calls on the GnoPhone from my iaxtel number as well as a PSTN number
assigned by iconnecthere (the outgoing PSTN numbers would also go through
iconnecthere).

Here's where I'm a little confused. In the iax.conf file I'm not sure I
understand what a context is. I think I understand the rest of the things
there besides the context. In the extensions.conf file, how do I set this
up for iax. All the examples in the handbook seem to be for Zap and I'm
not really understanding what each arguement after exten => are? Can I
just arbitrarily assign extensions? If so what tells asterisk that the
extension goes to the GnoPhone? I eventually would like to add some
hardware to the eqyation but I think I'm baffled enough for right now.
Thanks for any suggestions.
AJ
