[Asterisk-Users] Termcap support not found

Hello,  I am trying to install asterisk and get this error.

checking for tgetent in -ltermcap... no
checking for tgetent in -ltinfo... no
checking for tgetent in -lcurses... no
checking for tgetent in -lncurses... no
configure: error: termcap support not found
make: *** [editline/config.h] Error 1

I am running redhat release 9 (Shrike)

I did a slocate to see if termcap and libtermcap were on my system and they are.

Please help.

I read the README and the handbook v2 but I have not had much luck.
