TC,

Thank you very much for the pointer.  I wanted to acknowledge how 
valuable it was.  I was able to monitor the channel.  I did not know 
that tool exsited or what it did.  Now I do.

I actually do not know what an FSK tone is.  I gather, from google, 
that it is some audible tone between the first and send ring.  I was 
not able to to hear anything between the rings.  However, my caller ID 
stopped working in loopstart mode as well.  So... I have to dig deeper.
