Think of it like a cell phone provider, wouldn't you want them to get
nervous if they saw you making 2 calls from the same EIN? It also
probably has something to do with scheduling of assets, if 10% of their
users used 2 lines at a time and called in the early evening just after
the US work day was over, then they may well have to spend a lot more
money on lines even if the minutes didn't change.

I don't mean to defend them, but I do see what could be an economic
problem since they are trying to compete by being cheaper.

A wonderful boss like mine who lets me piggy back out the company
asterisk machine? Our office has 12 lines, and I get to use what is free
whenever. I have had 3 calls up across my Comcast cable modem without
any problems.
