So in other words... Asterisk can do what the Avaya Conversant can do if
you have a full understanding of it? Please pray tell how to do these
things. I am all ears.

We've developed a few hardcore IVR systems for Asterisk... You have to 
have a absolute complete understanding of Asterisk before you can 
unleash the full power.
