See the other thread here on the list about SLC and
http://issues.asterisk.org/jira/browse/SS7-27
The latest patches apply to Asterisk trunk and 1.10, but i have not tested
it with 1.8

In production i am (still) using 1.6.1 with the old version of the
patches.
