[asterisk-gui] Hardware setup for channel bank

I'm taking another look at this issue. I was considering using FreePBX which
allows you to manually configure zaptel.conf or dahdi/system.conf. It also
allows/forces you to enter each hardware channel individually. But I would
really prefer to use the Asterisk GUI because it appears to allow more
custom control of the dial plan, and I like the layout better.
I was looking through the code trying to find where I could possibly hack
around the hardware config to 'fake' having a TDM2400P(mixed 24 port analog)
instead of a T1 card. Could someone point me in the general direction of
where I would do this in the code? Or maybe this isn't a good idea ???
