Won't work.  Your phone works off of a standard 20mA current loop.  The 
current's the same (within reason) no matter what.  Use the built-in DSP 
functions in Asterisk.  Take the channel offhook and simply listen with the 
DSP routines.  progressdetect probably already does it.
