[asterisk-dev] making the .so file stand-alone such that it can be loaded by an external program

Hi,
As some of the *.so *(for example codec_g729.so) files provided by Digium
can be loaded
independently to external programs using dlopen function without facing any
"unidentified variable"
or similar problems.
My question is that is there a defined way to make a *.so* file
independent?
*if yes:* can someone please explain how to do it?
*if not:* how Digium make it work independently?
