I would rather rely on the external dependency, personally. I don't like the idea of having to manually update our local copy of SQLite3 from time to time. I would feel differently if it was an obscure package, but SQLite3 is pretty much everywhere.
Can someone point a linux/bsd flavour where linking to the system
sqlite would likely fail? I've never found a system where sqlite might
create trouble, but I might be missing something.
